A central Arkansas native, Russell Hill has worked in the fitness and wellness industry for more than 35 years. Having spent more than a decade as a competitive bodybuilding and powerlifting athlete he recognized that while competitive athletes were self-motivated the majority of those needing to exercise were not. This is where he believed he could help.
Russell's passion is to help those who think they are beyond making substantial improvements in their level of fitness, safely reach their goals. His specific interest is in helping those with medical and orthopedic concerns exercise safely and effectively in such a way as to minimize the effects of their condition(s) and improve their levels of fitness, energy and health. If you have medical or orthopedic concerns do not assume you cannot exercise safely and effectively until you schedule a time to meet with Russell. He can help ensure you are able to reap the benefits of safe, effective exercise!
Russell received his B.S. from the University of Central Arkansas and is a Certified Trainer (CPT) with the American College of Sports Medicine® where he also earned his Exercise is Medicine® credential. He is also an NCCA Certified Health Coach (CHC) with the American Council on Exercise®.
Russell started out college as an art major, but found his calling to be kinesiology.
“Since a very young age I was always intrigued by strong, powerful individuals. I attribute this to my father and grandfather who were able to do things I found amazing. True story: When I was a child I loved to read comic books and as I grew older (and long before the superhero movie craze) my initial goal in life was to be a comic book artist. Unbeknownst to my parents I clipped a Charles Atlas ad from one of my comic books, saved money I earned from mowing lawns and doing other chores and ordered his "muscle building" program. When it arrived I was hooked! I've been very blessed to have been able to provide for my family by doing what I love and can proudly say that I was one of the first full-time, professional trainers in central Arkansas since the late 1980’s!”
Russell loves witnessing a client’s revelation that they can make changes to their physiques and more importantly changes to their health. Seeing people experience how much better they feel and how much more productive they can be simply by eating better and exercising regularly is extremely rewarding. And, you don’t have to wear a tie to work!
Russell is married to Pam and they have three teenage daughters. Russell is also a voracious reader, an amateur movie critic and loves spending time with his family which usually consists of any outdoor activity or preparing for the upcoming sports season.
Russell has a couple of spots that just opened up for personal training clients and he is starting a new Bootcamp Wednesday, September 4th called BLITZ-6!
BLITZ-6 is an instructor led small group exercise class focusing on six components of fitness:
- cardiorespiratory fitness
- muscular strength
- muscular endurance
- body composition
This 30-minute class is designed for individuals who want to exercise intensely as well as safely but may not want to perform many of the ballistic movements associated with a bootcamp style class. Whether you're a beginner, have a few health concerns or even a seasoned exercise veteran this class will prove to be challenging and productive!
Blitz-6 will meet every Monday and Wednesday from 12:00pm - 12:30pm on the 3rd Floor of the Regions Building in Downtown Little Rock at Club Fit. Space is limited to six participants and the cost is $119 / month. For more information or to reserve your space contact Russell at firstname.lastname@example.org
