"The one main difference ... is the support of everyone at this gym."I started this with the same goal that almost everyone has, which is weight loss. It wasn’t until the third week of the bootcamp that I actually started to enjoy it and began to see it as something fun, rather than a “chore.” These weeks have gone by so fast and it’s like every week I see improvement and a difference. Doing these classes has also made me reflect on my eating habits. I could honestly go on and on about what it’s been like these past few months, but there is one main difference from this time than the rest of the times that I think is super important, and that is the support from literally everyone at this gym. From the first day that I walked in it was so positive and it has continued to stay that way, which makes it that much easier to keep coming back.

"Can't wait to get my workout on!"My whole life has been a struggle to balance food and exercise. I have always gained weight very easily because I LOVE to eat! In 2009, I started a new career at a computer based job, so I sit much of the day and mindlessly snack. When I received a promotion in 2015, my job became more exhausting, so when I would leave work in the evenings I would be too tired to exercise and began gaining more weight. Early 2016 I finally was getting hang of my new position and finding it easier to get back into an exercise routine and eating healthy, but all of that came to an abrupt halt on June 21, 2016 when I lost my 19-year-old son. Grief took hold and my health declined rapidly. I found comfort in eating sugary fattening foods and alcohol and sleeping all the time. My weight sky rocketed to a whopping 218 lbs. My cholesterol and blood pressure became elevated. An anxiety/panic attack landed me in the ER in December where I found out my muscles were deteriorating.
After more than a year of doctors and therapists recommending different prescription medications along with encouraging exercise to help with my emotional well-being, I had accepted what I had become: sad, broken, obese, and in constant mental and physical pain. This is where I thought I would remain forever, until a friend told me about ClubFit’s HIIT Bootcamp. I reluctantly went to one of the free sessions to just try it out. I left there feeling overwhelmed with the intensity of the workout; however, comfortable with the on-the-spot adaptions that Jake had made to accommodate my limitations. Just from this one intense workout, I experienced a rush of mental clarity and focus I had not felt in years. My body enjoyed the challenge and wanted to continue, so in August 2017, I signed up . While I still was not ready mentally to adjust my eating or evening activity of lying on the couch until it was time to move to the bed, I was able to commit to the 30 minutes at lunch time since I already had to be in the office anyway. I have now been involved with this lunchtime routine for several years. These boot camp sessions have become highly addicting. On the weekends, I crave the intensity and cannot wait for Monday’s so that I can get in there and get my workout on! I have lost a significant amount of weight and many inches. I have gained a ton of muscle in places I did not even know muscles existed in my body, but also an overall sense of well-being. I no longer need depression and anxiety meds as I have learned how to control these emotions using exercise. My energy levels are returning. My mental clarity and focus at work have significantly improved. I am able to do physical things, that even as a kid I was not strong enough for. My cholesterol and blood pressure have returned to normal levels. And I have gained wonderful new friends. I absolutely love Bootcamp and how it has empowered my mind, body and soul. |
